What's the offer?
Make it easy to respond
What's typically missing in lead generating mailers is the offer. Instead of selling the company, product or services...sell the offer. Make it a great offer. Make it a freebie or a discount that delivers a benefit. Don't offer to send more information or have a salesperson call. Make the offer easy to accept and hard to refuse Give the customer as many options as possible for responding to the direct mail offer. Provide a postage paid envelope or postcard. Include the mailing address, phone and fax numbers. Give your e-mail address and direct them to your web site. Make all these options easy to read and easy to find. Include them in two locations. If the response form gets misplaced, the customer probably won't call information to get your phone number.
 

Toll free numbers improve response

A recent study of consumers over 18 found that toll free numbers are more popular than ever. Over 89% of consumers report using toll free numbers to request information, make reservations and place orders. Seventy percent of women and 63 percent of men use them. The only group not using toll free numbers are those over age 65.
