How to build a better magnet mailer

Magnets have long been a popular ad specialty item. Just look at any refrigerator door. It’s probably covered with magnet business cards, calendars and die cut silhouettes.

Magnets work well in direct mail as an insert into an envelope or by laminating them to a postcard. They stick on metal but have the disadvantage of not sticking to other surfaces.

A new product, called the Pseudo Magnet has the same look, feel and marketing uses as a traditional magnet. The difference is it will stick to anything and it’s easier to work with during lettershop production.

These durable Pseudo Magnets are backed with repositionable adhesive. They will stick to any surface without leaving a residue. In addition to affixing them to “a frig,” they will stick to a wood door, a plaster wall or even an office window. They are repositionable - much like a sticky note. You can place a Pseudo Magnet wherever the ad message will provide a constant reminder.

A good format for this product is a folded selfmailer. You can design and print this mailpiece the same way you normally would. Include full messaging on the front, back and even where the Pseudo Magnet will be applied. The Pseudo Magnets are printed with 4-color process on gloss stock with special adhesive. Then they are laminated with an embossed vinyl and converted on to paper rolls. A.M. applies the Pseudo Magnets to an inside panel of the unfolded selfmailer, then folds, seals, and inkjet addresses…all in one operation.

These Pseudo Magnets have been used to advertise calendar of events, sports schedules, 800 numbers or websites. A symphony orchestra used the product to list upcoming performances.
